FCS August 12 Districtwide School Cancellation

August 11, 2021

Dear Families:

At Flint Community Schools, the safety and well-being of our staff and scholars is always a primary concern. Tomorrow, Thursday, August 12, is projected to be 90 degrees, which is too hot for our staff and scholars to be in school buildings. Thus, we are canceling school districtwide for the day. However, the administration building will remain open. Per our 2021-22 school calendar, which can be accessed at FlintSchools.org, there is also no instruction on Friday, August 13. School will resume in-person Monday, August 16, and we look forward to seeing your child.

The district continues to work to obtain air in all our classrooms. In the meantime, the district will continue to monitor the temperature outside to make informed decisions for the well-being of our school community.

We encourage any parent or guardian with questions or concerns to contact the district directly. We will continue to put our community first.

Your partner in education,

Mrs. Anita J. Steward

Superintendent
